The SCITECH "Health ... For You" Festival in EP Concluded Friday

Under the auspices of HRH Prince Mohammad Bin Fahad Bin Abdualaziz the Emir of Eastern Region, the Your Health Festival in SCITECH Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science & Technology Center in AL Khobar Cornish launched on April 8, 2006 under the theme For You ... We Met.

The Ministry of Health organized the SCITECH festival in EP represented by the Directorate of Health Education Affairs in Eastern Province. Highly reputed Government and private Medical hospitals, Pharmacies, benevolent Health-Care Foundations, Doctors, Scientists, and Consultants participated in the activities of the humanitarian and social event.

The event is used as an information broadcasting channel to tell people that the Kingdom apply and keep up the International medical standards and enhance them reaching the best quality of health-care services and show visitors and patients that the health organizations of all participating hospitals are modern and all equipped with the most recent and latest medical technology of equipment, tools and procedure, with very well trained cadres in all medical departments. Furthermore, we always do work hard and look forward to improve the available services and add more measures in the future. This mission always carry with it the rendering the high stage of therapeutic, surgical and nursing care supported by the actual concern for the patients. The main services and topics discussed and negotiated between participants and addresses to visitors are tips and hints of symptoms of avian Influenza " bird Flu ", Urology, Obstetric and Gynecology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Cardiology, Anesthesia, labor, Dental Procedures, face and Jose Services, Internal Medicine, diabetes, Ophthalmology, Pharmacy, Dermatology. Pulmonary, Clinical Support Services, Cancer, Orthopedics, Radiology, Laboratory, General Surgery, Smoking addict and others in addition to future plans. Suitable baths and methods of prevention and treatment are then submitted to the audience and visitors of SCITECH in daily basis of the festival activities, Waleed F AL Rasheed, Manager of SCITECH Director General Manager said.

Dr. Aqeel Jamaan AL Ghamdy, The Director of Health Affairs said that the main objective of establishing this event is mainly to provide medical and health-care education and to enhance the knowledge of the importance of maintaining Healthy and clean environment in communities .

Dr. Badar AL Ghamdy from the Benevolent Cancer Foundation stressed on warning people of the danger and anguish that malignant diseases might cause to the patients themselves in addition to the side effect that could make the lives of families miserable when any member become a victim of any such fatal disease, for instance, cancer and avian Influenza " bird Flu ".

Talal AL Safra and his family, from Syria , living in Kingdom for more than 20 years were among the visitors praised the activities of SCITECH and highly valued the information of precautions, prevention, preservation and treatment of common diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, anxiety, depression, paralysis, defective spine, heart diseases, body weight ,handicap ... etc .

" We also show self monitoring record of blood and urine test with general health advice like effect of smoking " Women Smokers" , Body Weight, lower pregnancy rate of obese women and poor quality of sperm on obese men, Rubella vaccination and show basic tests required before seeing a doctor or physician. The most important idea is to tell people take preventive steps to avoid the catch of such diseases and inform the community of being able to identify the role of each person in helping himself be immune and at least seek treatment and be cured of any disease in its early stages. The event is in all educational, informational, and full of informative and comprehensive presentations and lectures related to medicine and health. These activities display the highly advanced technology that are available in Kingdom which match that in all the world, if not better, Moh,d AL Hout added the Thursday.

"As Mr. AL hout mentioned to you, and as obvious, the gatherings in each day focus on live medical, test and diagnosis of visitors. The first moment any visitor get into SCITECH pass through a series of booths provided with advanced medical consultants possessed with the highest standards of diagnostic tools and devices for prompt and quick but accurate check up. There are also video films for both education and entertainment of families; Dr. AL Ghamgy concluded his statement Thursday

Hundreds of visitors are daily seen in SCITECH, the number was troubled during the weekend. The Center crowded of families, men, women and children of different nationalities. Sponsors' Managers increased the number of experienced and highly knowledgeable Representatives to satisfy the demands of the huge number of people rushed to the Center. This is clear to meet their needs and answer their questions.

Among the visitors, the Military Lebanese Delegation Headed by George Yaqub, The Deputy Leader of Fuad Shihab Military College in Lebanon who took advantage of their visit to the Eastern Province Military Forces Headquarters and visited the SCITECH and were escorted by HH Prince Sultan Bin Saud with a great number of high ranked military officials in the EP.The delegation military leader expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the SCITECH staff and thanked all the participants for the good job well done.

The SCITECH activities was concluded yesterday, Friday, 10TH of April 2006 and awards were distributed to distinguished contributors of individuals and groups as well as the draw of few winning prizes for the thousands of visitors registered in the SCITECH log book.
