PRINCE SALMAN TO LAY CONERSTONE OF
FIRST PRIVATELY-OWNED UNIVERSITY IN EP

Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of the Riyadh
Region, will formally lay down the cornerstone of the
first privately-owned university in the Eastern
Province on Wednesday, March 29. The occasion will end
and highlight the conclusion of his private visit to
the region.
Prince Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz bin Musaad Al-Saud,
Deputy Emir of the Eastern Province, who hosted Prince
Salman’s visit to the region, expressed his deepest
appreciation for the visit. Both visited a number of
government establishments in the Eastern Province and
held dialogue with citizens.
He said the new university, to be called The Prince
Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU), will add up to the
many learning institutions in the region which are
providing the best education to the Saudi youth
The PMU will formally open its door to Saudis, both
male and female, and expatriate students, including
those who finished their secondary education in the
Kingdom. It is founded by leading businessmen from
Eastern Province.
The new university will offer courses in diverse
fields, including business, culture, education,
community development and public administration. Dr.
Issa H. Alansari, Project Director of the PMU has said
that the university targets to be an institution of
higher learning and a leader in the advancement of
human intelligence and promulgation and development of
knowledge to all- Saudis as well as foreign students.,
PMU will admit four categories of students, namely
graduates of secondary school who are Saudis and
foreigners, employed Saudis who are high school
graduates who want to pursue university courses,
holders of bachelor degree (Saudis and foreigners) who
want to take up postgraduate program leading to
Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA),
and employees of local companies (both Saudis and
foreigners) who wants to sharpen and increase their
competencies in specialized areas.
PMU was founded by 48 businessmen in the Eastern
Province. A founding committee has been named, which
is composed of Saad Al-Othman as chairman, Dr. Issa H.
Alansari as Project Director, Prince Abdul Aziz bin
Fahd bin Abdullah as chairman of the Engineering
Committee.
